I have known and used Jan as a child care provider since August 1995. During that time she has cared for one or more of my three children. As a new mother, I learned many things about parenting from Jan. Probably the two most important things were schedules and consistency. Not only did putting children on a schedule from an early age help me get things done, but I noticed that it made my children happier. They were able to function far better when they knew how the day would work. Even as small babies a napping schedule was extremely important. I am sure that the reason my five year old can still take 2 hour naps is because my children took scheduled naps at Jan’s.
There is more to the day than naps though. At Jan’s the children learn about playing together at various ages. They work puzzles and learn on the computer. When my son Ryan was 3, he was making puzzles that were designed for 5 to 7 year olds. Even my 21 month old can make puzzles designed for 2 to 5 year olds. Aside from numbers, letters, colors and shapes, the children also get proper manners reinforced. All learn about washing hands before eating and after going to the bathroom. My two older boys were totally potty trained by the age of 2 years 4 months. A big reason for that is the daily schedule and Jan’s consistent manner.
The care at Jan’s is wonderful. I have never considered taking my children anywhere else. Her home is loving, nurturing and very clean. The children eat very well. They also play well together. It is a very safe environment and as a parent, I feel lucky to have found Jan. I also believe it is the next best thing to home.

I visited a few places and ended up enrolling my son in a center right near my work. I brought him for his first day to the center. I looked around and saw the mini cribs on the floor only 2 inches apart from each other and started to cry. I hadn’t realized the importance of sleeping arrangements. The staff reassured me he would be fine. When I picked him up after work he was crying, tired from being unable to sleep, and the feeding schedule I left was all messed up.
