About Callahan Child Care

Thank you for your interest in Callahan Child Care. Jan Callahan has been serving Encinitas, Carlsbad and coastal families like yours for over 25 years providing extraordinary, high quality child care at its best.

It all began when we moved to Encinitas in 1981. We have two boys and I have been at home with them since birth. I saw the need for quality child care in this area and felt I had the experience and qualifications for doing a great job with children. I have taught gymnastics and swimming through the Y.M.C.A. I opened my child care business in 1983.

I am a licensed child care provider and keep abreast of current regulations. I attend state and national conferences, professional growth seminars, child development classes, child care support group meetings. 

I am certified in CPR and First Aid and have taken an Earthquake Preparedness class. I have worked on the city child care task force for Encinitas.  I am a member of the National Child Care Association and the San Diego Family Child Care Association.  I am the referral rep. for the SDCFCCA for Del Mar, and Encinitas. I have held the National Accreditation Certificate since 1988. I have been a National Validator for Accreditation since 1991.

I take continuing education courses related to child care. Don, my husband is certified in First Aid and CPR and my mother is a retired pediatric nurse, both assist me daily.
